Ropes was the focus of the Coonabarabran Guide meeting last Monday. Mr Phil Draper was our special guest. He spoke to the girls about abseiling which will be one of the activities at our next Guide camp in June. Mr Draper explained all the equipment and safety aspects with the assistance of Daisy Andrews. The older guides rigged up and had a go at abseiling on a horizontal surface outside the hall. The girls can’t wait for the real thing.
Mrs Bev Rayner was also a guest helper at our Guide meeting and she brought her wealth of Guiding experience and assisted the younger guides in learning how to tie knots. The girls used ropes and even jelly snakes to learn how to tie a variety of knots.
The girls also had lots of fun playing rope related games and some crafty creations. Thanks to our special guests and Mrs Hain & Mrs Beard who also helped out at our busy meeting with 17 very active Guides.
